STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Complete New Album After Tour
October 28, 2009STONE TEMPLE PILOTS spent the last few months working on a new studio album with producer Don Was. The band currently has tour dates through the beginning of 2010, after which the group is expected to resume recording the CD for a tentative spring/summer release.
"When we get back, we're going to finish the album," singer Scott Weiland tells Spinner.com. "And then when we finish the album, there will be a big tour around its release and that will probably be a long tour."
The upcoming release of PILOTS' sixth studio album and first since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da" has been complicated by a contractual dispute between Weiland, drummer Eric Kretz and STP's label, Atlantic Records.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS were reactivated in 2008 after a six-year layoff, during which time Weiland recorded two albums with VELVET REVOLVER before being dismissed in April 2008.
Weiland issued a second solo effort, called "Happy In Galoshes", last November and has been touring on his own behind that release.
